We would be honored to have your participation in Transformation 2020: Popular Democracy Defined presented by The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD).

Held from September 24th to 26th, this fundraiser will amplify the voices of activists, creatives, and leaders in progressive democracy.

Programming will feature a series of keynote addresses, town halls, fireside conversations, artistic performances, education/training, and more.

Among our current confirmations for this year’s event are: Angela DavisRobert De Niro, Gabrielle Union, Nicole Beharie, U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, activist Alicia Garza, Democratic nominee Cori Bush (MO), author/activist Ibram X. Kendi, Open Society’s Patrick Gaspard, author Michael Eric Dyson, writer/producer Angela Nissel, actor/writer Rafael Casal, playwright Tori Sampson, Broadway actor Adrienne Warren (star of Tina the Musical + founder of Broadway Advocacy Coalition), and Chalia La Tour (TV actor and a star of Broadway's Slave Play), activist/composer Samora Pinderhughes, The ACLU and more.

For the past five years, The Center for Popular Democracy has thrown movement celebrations, bringing together philanthropists, frontline activists, strategic partners, and allies of the progressive community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are going virtual this year for programming at the nexus of art, activism, politics, and culture.

CPD, Level ForwardRights CoLab, the Predistribution Initiative, and Generation Citizen are collectively producing this unprecedented online event and fundraiser with three days of robust programming.

The summit will host up to 100,000 younger Americans in a powerful online offering of youth-delegate focused programming to activate members of a progressive democracy. This target group is imaginative and empowered, but they are seldom welcomed into rooms where policy platforms are crafted or even asked to share their point of view.

We seek to change that exponentially. Your presence and voice will be key to our success.

Our team will work closely with you to best curate your participation as we seek to inspire and activate tens of thousands of citizens in a crucial moment in our nation’s history.

KEY TOPICS INCLUDE:

-
Building a People: Powered Inclusive Democracy
- Transforming Our Justice System

- Investing in Equity and Repairing Historic Wealth Stripping
- Protecting Our Workers
- Sustaining Our Communities
- Educating for the Future
- Healthcare for All

We are in the midst of a crisis of epic scale and unprecedented velocity. Without clear direction, the urgency of "now" will revert back to business as usual. We believe a national convening is required to fill this gap between uprising and a Presidential election, in order to bring about change that reflects the paramount needs of our time. We will provide a space for the electorate who do not feel engaged or see themselves having a place within the existing system.

Anchored in our vision for a more just world, our celebrations honor individuals and organizations for supporting the movement and fostering a popular democracy—imaginative, informed, sustained participation by all of us in the economy, in our government, in our communities—as the vehicle for our collective liberation and the expression of our shared priorities: racial, economic, and social justice in a world where all have the freedom to thrive.

In collaboration with our movement partners, we’ll bring together some of the world’s biggest artists, community organizers, and progressive leaders for a historic multi-hour, cross-platform livestream.

Thank you so much for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me directly via phone at 312.593.3866 or email: cali@caligreenink.com. If you are interested, we would seek to schedule a brief conversation between you and Abeni Bloodworth, Deputy Director Development of Center for Popular Democracy.
